Visit to Cochin International Airport Terminal 3 (CIAL)
As a part of educational field trip, the students of Classes III to XII along with their teachers visited the newly built terminal of CIAL. The Trichur Pooram theme recreated in the new terminal will enchant everyone coming to God’s Own Country. It was an informative cum visual treat for the students.
Work Education, On-The-Spot Exhibition 2016
Work Education is an integral part of the learning process. It aims at purposive and meaningful manual work, resulting into goods or services useful to the community and also, the pleasure of self-fulfillment. The students of Classes V to X participated in the Work Education, on – the – Spot Exhibition held on 2nd December 2016. Students made varieties of articles from waste materials and it was really a marvelous sight to watch the students engaged in the productive work with full concentration.
Green Kerala Campaign 2016-17
Mr. Sooraj Abraham of Plan @ Earth conducted a seminar on ‘Planet Earth’ for the students of classes 8, 9 and 10 on 1st December, 2016 to make them aware of new idea of ‘UP – CYCLE’. He demonstrated how difficult it is to recycle plastic bottles. It was followed by an eye – opening talk by Mr. Unnikrishnan which really helped the students to understand about the perils posing threat to the planet Earth.
Field Trips to Naval Base, Kochi
157 students of Class 8 along with their class teachers, Principal and Vice-principal visited Naval Base, Kochi on 18th and 19th of November as a part of the Navy Week Celebration 2016 to experience Navy life. They were taken to various jet planes like Chetak, Bravo etc. and war ships like INS SUNAYNA. The guiding commanders explained the working of various jet planes and war ships to the students in detail. They also visited the exhibition stalls of diving equipments, models of ships and fire extinguishers etc and all the more it was an amazing new experience to all.
The Visit Of The German Team
On 1st November, 7 students and 2 faculties from OTH, Germany visited our school in connection with global week celebrations. It was indeed an enlightening experience for everyone in the school. Fr. Dr. George Peter Pittapillil, the Director of Mithradam – Renewable Energy Centre, Aluva addressed the gathering with his powerful thoughts. The students got a platform to share ideas and facts about both the cultures. The students learned about the innovative Energy conservation techniques and policies followed there, modern teaching methods practiced there, their festive celebrations and dreams about life etc through the interactive sessions supported by power point presentations of both the schools.
18th October 2016 witnessed the creativity of a group of enthusiastic, talented scientists from all the classes of our school. They gave a hope that there won’t be any water scarcity or hazards of waste. EXPO 2016 was inaugurated by the former I S R O professional Prof. P R Madhava Panicker. In his inaugural address he said that learning by doing is to be practiced to get a thorough knowledge of what the students learn. Reading different books will give theoretical knowledge, but practical knowledge will give the skill to think ‘out of the box’. The creative charts and models exhibited in the exhibition reflected the higher order thinking skills and curiosity of the learner to try and work out beyond the level of bookish knowledge and experiences. The exhibits of famous monuments around the world and renewable energy resources were the main attractions of the two day mega event.
World Space Week Celebration 2016-17
In connection with World Space Week Celebration 2016, a lively and interactive talk on “Achievements of ISRO” and the advancements of India in the field of space technology was conducted on 5th October 2016 for the students of Classes IX to XI by Mrs. Hemalatha, Manager, Ammonium Perchlorate Plant, Aluva. The students were also made aware of the importance of the contributions of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. She emphasized certain basic topics in physics that a student should know if he/she has the interest in space science.
The School has also arranged a Planetarium show for the students of LKG to Class XII. The two days’ show revealed the wonders of the space to the students through the advanced 3D projection and space-age audio visual technology.
Nattupookkal Exhibition 2016-17
A colourful and informative exhibition of the plants and flowers commonly seen in Kerala was organized in the Kids Block on 5th October 2016. Around 70 varieties of flowers and plants seen in our premises were exhibited. It was really a revival of the elder’s sweet and nostalgic memories and awareness for the youngsters about the marvelous beauty of Nature.
“FUEL FOR FUTURE” – A TALK ON GERMAN COLLABORATIVE PROJECT 2016-17
Mrs. CATRIN addressed the class XI students on 5th October to explain about “Fuel for future”. She explained about the alternative sources of energy in Germany and the measures taken by the German government to reduce energy consumption. She also introduced the German Project “Need to give education to the Girl Child”.
Book Fair 2016-17
The Book Fair 2016 was organized in the school by ‘Book Arts’ on 29th and 30th September. The Principal Rev. Fr. Martin Mundadan inaugurated the same. It was a pleasant and rich experience for the whole school because the organizers have done their best to provide the best of their collection to satisfy the kids as well as teens.
Need of Healthy Diet 2016-17
Healthy food habits are the need of the hour and keeping this in mind, a talk was conducted for the students of classes V and VI on ‘’the need of healthy food habits’’ by Dr. Sindhu T P, General Physician, Primary Health Centre, Kanjoor. She focused on the ill effects of skipping breakfast and need of keeping away from junk foods.
Teachers’ Day Celebration 2016-17
‘’Behind every successful man and woman, there is an unsung hero – a teacher who silently enjoys tears of happiness when she sees her students succeed’’. Teachers’ Day was celebrated on 8th September 2016 to honour the teaching fraternity. It reminded of the great teaching of the ancient Gurus, ‘Matha, Pitha, Guru, Daivam’. The school Principal Rev. Fr. Martin Mundadan gave the message of the teachers’ day. Rev. Fr. Jose Padayatty CMI honoured the staffs who meritoriously completed 5, 10 and 20 years of their service. The teachers and students actively participated in the programmes and games organized by the students of class XII. It was a memorable day for the entire teaching fraternity.
Capacity Building Programme 2016-17 - The Dream of Becoming An Effective Teacher
Mr. Prasidh Prasad, the founder and CEO of Praxis Knowledge Solutions conducted a one day training workshop on ‘’ how to ignite the passion of the students, how to make classroom as dynamic as the world around and how to dream for becoming an effective teacher?’’ for the teachers on 24th September 2016. The acronym for DREAM – Develop commitment, Revamp your goals periodically, Enhance your skills, Approach with confidence, Move with a mentor – was beautifully explained by him and the teachers were really rejuvenated after the session.
Teens! Be Vigilant! (A Flash Mob on Anti Drug Abuse) 2016-17

To create awareness among the students of Viswajyothi Public School, the Dept. of Science organized a very short and inspiring programme on evils of drug abuse. The flash mob, theme dance and PPT highlighted the growing tendency of antisocial deeds among teenagers and how they easily get trapped in to it. All the students watched the programme.
The students of class XI C visited SAAVISHKAR 2016 organized by RSET, Kakkanad. The innovative models prepared by the students of RSET were very informative and helpful to ignite the minds of young Viswajyothians.
Cornerstone of Participative Democracy - Mock Parliament 2016-17
The Social Science Department of the School conducted a Mock Parliament on 20th July 2016. This was a maiden step to make the students aware of the importance of the Houses of Parliament as the cornerstone of participative democracy and also, of the proceedings in the Parliament Session like Question Hour, Zero Hour etc. There were around 15 members in favour of the ruling party and 15 members in the opposition. Three major questions were raised by the opposition: Campus cleanliness, Discipline and Protecting of the lawns. The concerned ministers of ruling party gave solutions and plans for these problems.
A prominent bill based on the excellence and global competence was presented and the same has been placed for the approval of the School Management which is the highest authority. Then the session was adjourned. The school Manager Rev. Fr. Jose Padayatty CMI, the Principal Rev. Fr. Martin Mundadan CMI and the Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Joshy Koottumkal CMI were present throughout the programme.
Personality Development Programme
A man’s greatest wealth is his personality. The school had conducted a Personality Development Programme for the students of Classes IX & X on 30th May 2015 by Mr. Prasidh Prasad, CEO and founder of Praxis knowledge solution, a Bangalore based company. It was truly an enlightening experience enriched with activities like role-play. It was indeed a novel experience with a very different teaching method.
Parents’ Orientation Programme on CCE
In order to give awareness of the concept of CCE, an orientation class for parents were conducted on the topic “No Exam, no tensions, is that CCE?” Mrs. Jayamole George, CCE Coordinator took a very informative class on the tools, the areas of assessment, grading etc.
Career Designing Class
Career designing programme for the students of classes IX to XII was conducted on 12th Sept 2015 in the AV room by Dr. Suresh Kumar, the Clinical psychologist. The class provided the students a time for self analysis and to understand their character types. He presented before the students, the enormous opportunity and promising careers suiting to their character.
Soft Skill Classes
A soft skill class was conducted on 16th September 2015 for the students of classes VIII to X in order to create in them a sense of cleanliness and proper hygiene. The classes were conducted by experienced professionals Rev. Fr. Jaison, Dr. Gissy Kurien & Mrs. Leena. The classes were very informative and up –to date.
Motivational Classes for Students, Parents and Teachers
The motivational classes for students, parents and teachers from LKG to XII were conducted on 12th & 19th September 2015 by the popular clinical psychologist Dr. Suresh Kumar. Dr. Suresh Kumar is the MD of IPERT, pursuing his second PhD in Psychology. He is a clinical Psychologist, Hypnotherapist and International Trainer specialized in learning disabilities in children. He is the resource person for Value Education, HRD of Education, Govt. of India, Malaysia and Thailand. The talk was very impressive and it was an excellent eye-opening session for the parents and students. On 23rd September, Rev. Dr. George Pittapilly CMI addressed the teacher community and reminded about the importance of knowledge updating in the present scenario.
On 26th September 2015 the Silver jubilee auditorium was filled with nostalgic feelings as Ms. Nisha Paul Madassery, a CA graduate who completed her14 years of schooling from Viswajyothi came to share her success saga to the blooming vibrant Viswajyothiyans. She talked about various prospects of education and importance of choosing an area of interest to have a well established career.
CCE Training Workshop 2013
On 2nd and 3rd August, the school had organized a two day workshop for the teachers of schools under Central Kerala Sahodaya Complexes on CCE. Mr. Jayant Aurora of Shriram New Horizons Ltd., a CBSE empanelled agency conduced the classes.
61 teachers from 18 different schools participated. The discussions included Assessment Tools and Techniques related to CCE. The participants were given certificates.
Principals’ Workshop 2013
The school had organized two days’ workshop for the Principals of the schools of Central Kerala Sahodaya Complexes on 9th and 10th August 2013, on ‘Excellence in School Education’. Mrs. Kunda Hulbee of HR Consultants Pvt. Ltd. a CBSE empanelled agency conducted the classes. 34 Principals from different schools actively participated in it. This programme focused on Academic Planning, Accreditation and Governance.
International Seminar on Life Skills by the CBSE 2013
A two day International Seminar on Lifeskills by the CBSE was conducted at Choice School, Tripunithura. A team of 4 students (Allen Poulose, Mary Ann, Rohit and Priya) of Class IX and Mrs. Jayamole George attended the same. There were competitions on poster making and jingles, school Global Health Exhibition, theme song on gender and values, youth parliament and extempore speech. Alan Poulose got first prize in extempore speech. The team got second prize for the Jingle, third prize for the theme song and consolation prize for the exhibition.
ASL training conducted by CBSE 2013
A two day ASL training programme for Oral Examiners in English was conducted in the school under the auspices of the CBSE on 16th and 17th December 2013. Around 90 teachers teaching in classes IX to XII all over Kerala participated in this. Mrs. ValsaBalaji, Principal, Padma SeshadriBalabhavan, Chennai and Mr. Stanley George, Principal, MES Raja Residential School, Calicut were the trainers who conducted classes on these days.
